As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have worked primarily with people with mental health disorders, substance use issues, and clients involved in the criminal justice system. I graduated with my Masters degree in social work from New York University in 2014, and shortly thereafter, I started my career with an alternative to incarceration program. I assisted in piloting an initiative to help mentally ill defendants get into appropriate treatment.
My clients currently are those who have frequent admissions to the psychiatric emergency department and detox /rehab units at the Mount Sinai West Hospital. Before hospital social work, I was providing therapy at a long term residential program, focusing on rehabilitation through CBT and DBT.
My passion lies with those seeking to better themselves, and connect with their inner self on the deepest level possible. As a trauma informed yoga teacher I have taught with Liberation Prison Yoga; a non-profit organization that sends volunteer yoga teachers into Rikers, and other jails and detention centers guiding meditation, mindfulness, and trauma informed yoga. Today, I teach at a reentry house for women who have recently been released from jail, and reentering society with their best foot forward.
When I'm not teaching/practicing yoga- or providing therapy, I am usually spending time with my dog, Etta. I love walking around my neighborhood and finding little hole in the wall coffee shops, and supporting small businesses that are in my community.
I love to travel, and hope to spend more time globe trotting and immersing myself in the beautiful cultures around the world.
I can't wait to meet you.
